Bio
Norm Coyne is a Sməlqmix/Syilx producer, writer, and director focused on developing internationally marketable film and media projects while building production capacity in regional communities. An Indigenous filmmaker and member of the Upper Similkameen Indian Band, he also serves on Council for the Nation, and his work connects storytelling with industry development and cultural tourism. Through the years, Norm's projects have appeared in Mashable, Fox News, Paste, CBC, Mental Floss, Nerdist, Den of Geek, Fangoria and Kevin Smith's podcast Fatman Beyond.
Coyne has produced multiple feature films distributed on platforms including Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Super Channel. His production credits include The Doctor’s Case, a Sherlock Holmes adaptation written by Stephen King and filmed at historic sites across British Columbia. The film was reported by ScreenRant as the 5th Best Stephen King Adaptation according to IMDB.
He is the founder of the FanCon Society, producing pop-culture conventions that have hosted more than 200 international celebrities and generated significant economic impact in their host communities.
Coyne is a three-time fellow of the Diversity of Voices program at the BANFF World Media Festival and a delegate of the Producers Without Borders initiative through Telefilm Canada. He continues to develop documentary and genre projects aimed at international co-production and distribution markets.
